American Veterans Help Corps Mission Statement
AVHC, NFP is dedicated to raising much-needed funding for Veterans who need a helping hand-up, not a hand-out.
AVHC also provides much-needed funds to other Not-For-Profit Veterans Organizations, Chartered by Congress, or Veterans Assistance Commissions, Overseen by County Governments.
American Veterans Help Corps is an Illinois registered 501 (c) 3 Non-Profit Corporation. AVHC is registered with the Illinois Attorney General's Charitable Trust Bureau.
Why we do what we do

- The volunteers who make the wheels turn at AVHC are dedicated individuals who either served honorably in the U.S. Military or who have close family members who served.
- Most of what we do stems from decades of watching our follow veterans' struggles. Struggles to get the needed post-service medical care due them struggles to get their lives back on track after the horrors of tour after tour in a war zone. Had Veterans Organizations like the Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States, The American Legion, The Disabled American Veterans, and so many others not kept pushing the Government to do the right thing, well God only knows where these veterans would be. Are we there yet? the answer is simple, No, the system is still broken. We have made a lot of strides over the last 50 years especially when it comes to Health Care and Benefits to the brave men and women who have given unselfishly of themselves to keep the light of Freedom Shining. Remember, these young heroes are our Sons, our Daughters, our Grand-Children. These brave people come from all walks of life, from the inter-cities, from the farming communities, from the hard life of Appalachia, but they all have one thing in common, they all volunteered! And after their service is completed our government would just as soon see them just fade away and disappear. We Americans who do understand their sacrifices and really care, must be ever watchful, always making sure no one ever forgets them or turns their backs to their needs.

- My name is Herschel, I am the Post Commander of American Legion Post # 1288 Bolingbrook, IL USA
- As everyone knows, because of Covid-19 the 2020 year was a total disaster when it comes to fundraising. Our post does not employ a professional fundraiser, rather holds various fundraising events throughout the year. These funds are all we have to replenish our Veterans Relief Fund. These are the restricted funds we use to help needy veterans and their families in Bolingbrook and the surrounding communities.
- At a regular monthly meeting, one of our post members said he know about AVHC and that it helps fund Veteran's NP organizations. The member said he would see what he could do to help. At the following post-meeting, the member presented the post with a generous check from American Veterans Help Corps for the post relief fund. Finely funds were available to help a WWII Veteran with repairs to his home just days before his 100th Birthday. And we were able to help a Vietnam Navy Veteran who only has one lung, most likely because of serving on an Old Navy ship with Asbestos contamination, during the Vietnam War, but was denied benefits by the VA. These are only two of the many Veterans in need we are able to help thanks to this generious Grant from AVHC.

Things you need to know.
Our Veterans face many obstacles after returning home from deployment to a combat zone. (On average 18 Veterans and Active duty Service Members take their own lives every day. While this number is down from 22 a day in 2021 we still have a lot of work to do.
